THE WINE
An elegant and finely structured Pinot Noir. Defined aromatics of red plum, dark cherries, and blueberry fruit. Elements of dried herbs are entwined through the fruit, bringing a savoury element to the palate. Sitting upon a supple tannin structure, the fruit is poised and composed. A soft rounded mouthfeel from time on lees, finishes this elegant and structured fine wine.
THE VINTAGE
The 2025 vintage can be considered broadly favourable across most varieties. Spring conditions were notably stable—arguably the most “normal” in recent years—with average monthly rainfall and slightly warmer-than-usual temperatures.
Summer brought a shift, marked by drier conditions and sustained warmth, especially in February, which saw eight days exceed 35°C. To support ripening, substantial supplementary irrigation was necessary to maintain optimal moisture levels.
Harvest commenced early, kicking off on 5 February. Remarkably, by 1 March, nearly all fruit had been picked.
VITICULTURE + WINEMAKING
The single clone of MV6 is sourced from our southwest facing ‘G’ Block. The fruit is destemmed and tipped into small open pot vessels. A short cold soak under CO2 cover allowed a slow start to natural fermentation with hand plunging to manage the temperature control and fruit extraction. Pressed when dry and immediately racked to oak puncheons where the wine finished fermentation. The oak selection was made up from 25% new, the balance seasoned. Maturation on lees for 11 months prior to blending and bottling.
