This wine is a lovely representation of the 2013 vintage, with the warm temperatures and dry conditions allowing full ripening and the full development of flavour while maintaining a wonderfully balanced level of natural acidity. The resulting wine has wonderful zesty citrus, fruit expression, a classy oak complexity, a creamy palate and enduring acid and flavour. a wine in balance .



Winemaking Notes

The 2013 Coombe Farm Chardonnay is a 60/40 blend of the Mendoza and Penfolds 58 clones of Chardonnay. Three batches of fruit were harvested and handled separately until just prior to bottling. Each batch was fermented in French oak barriques using different yeasts, varying proportions of new:old oak, varying degrees of juice clarity and also levels of malolactic fermentation.

Growing Conditions

2013 was a warm and dry vintage, producing wines that are slightly fuller and riper in style. This was of great benefit to the Chardonnay, allowing for the development of complex fruit characters while still maintaining good levels of acidity.
